In Cadzand, we turned a flat’s concrete shell into a quiet holiday home for a family of four. Thanks to an interior design with thorough and refined customisation, we were able to conceal techniques and various functionalities, such as a home cinema in the bedroom, a fold-out bed and plenty of storage space. To create an ascetic interior, the flat’s interior was also reduced to its essence at the residents’ request. Besides the absence of furnishings such as carpets or pronounced decoration, art was also deliberately avoided. The sea view is the masterpiece here.

Looking, just being, turning to contemplation and returning to reality to cook and enjoy being together are pursuits that give meaning to this stay. In this newly built flat with sea view, residents are also treated to a second vibrant canvas. From the kitchen you have a view over the church village flanked by an idyllic polder landscape. The duo of contrasting panoramas offers a special living experience. With every stay.

Total furnishing of a seaside flat.
In this second home by the sea, the colours of the surroundings are echoed in the interior. We used our bright house colour variant of white alongside shades of blue and grey and gave the lead role to a blue-green natural stone. Like a petrified imprint of shallow seawater, it confidently runs throughout the flat. Fine details include the subtle addition of brass, the rounded edges, and the soft feel of the surface, all resulting in the ultimate sophistication of this characterful stone. Natural materials are key in our entire portfolio. Hence, we also used clear oak and bronzed metal in this project. A beautiful eye-catcher is the open, metal cupboard that gathers the family's favourite objects in one place in the living room like a unique Wunderkammer.

Openness gives breath, also in this coastal flat. In the night area, for instance, the two sleeping suites are separated by an intermediate zone with an alcove that was designed as a laptop corner. Besides creating open spaces, we extended daylight deep into the weekend accommodation, even into the bathroom where the shower, through the sleeping areas, gives a view of the landscape without sacrificing privacy. For the same reason, artificial light was kept to a minimum and we opted for a subtle and efficient installation of fine luminaires in very targeted places.
The sum of all parts turns this flat in the province of Zeeland into a serene oasis in the midst of nature, where emptiness, light and silence allow the residents to recharge their batteries.
